Opera Providence is taking the lead in providing access to opera for our community.

Since 1991, Opera Providence has been Rhode Island's resident professional opera company. Opera Providence engages and inspires audiences through opera as the ultimate theater experience of music. OP has enjoyed rave reviews for its performances of La Boheme, Carmen, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Rigoletto, Cinderella, The Pirates of Penzance, Opera2Broadway, Porgy and Bess, Fiesta de la Zarzuela. Most recently Opera Providence presented it’s 2005/2006 season at the Columbus Theatre, which included Hansel and Gretel, Cavalleria rusticana, Suor Angelica, and Opera Spectacular.  Back by popular demand, Opera Providence will present its free outdoor concert series, Opera on the Hill, on Sundays in July for more than 4000 people. OPERAtunity, the company's education and outreach program, serves children and youth in Providence and throughout the state. Since 1998, more than 30,000 children, youth and adults have participated in OPERAtunity programs.
